Camera capture
Photograph equipment on site from the mobile app.
Camera capture in the Kopperfield mobile app takes site photos, stamps them with the time and location, and files them under a job so your team can find them later. Photos are saved on your phone first, so you can keep shooting with no signal.
Before you start
- Install the app and sign in. See Mobile app.
- The first time you open the camera, the app asks for camera access. Tap Allow camera. If you said no before, tap Open Settings and turn camera access on for Kopperfield.
Take photos
- Tap the Camera tab. On some accounts it is called Captures.
- Check the job pill at the top of the screen. While the app finds your location it shows Locating…, then Select a job with the nearest address.
- Tap the pill to open Choose a job. Pick an existing job, or tap Create job for a new address. The pill then shows the job name with a check mark.
- Tap the shutter to take a photo. Use the flash button to switch between Auto, On and Off, the zoom buttons to change lens, and the flip button to switch cameras.
- To add a spoken note, tap the microphone button. Tap it again to stop.
Every photo you take goes to the selected job until you change it.
No signal on site
If the job list cannot load, the picker offers Capture now, add a job later. Take your photos, then file them once you are back online. Your photos shows a banner with how many captures need a job. Tap it to open Needs a job and choose a job for each one, or one job for all of them.
Check your uploads
Tap the thumbnail next to the shutter to see your latest photo, or go back to Your photos to see them all. Each photo shows where it is:
- Waiting to upload or Uploading: still on its way.
- Analyzing and then Done: uploaded.
- Upload failed: tap Retry upload.
Photos that have not uploaded yet are safe on your phone. If you are asked to sign in, sign in again and the upload continues.
You can also add existing pictures with the import button on Your photos.
Mark up and share a photo
Tap a photo to open it. Pick a markup tool from the side: Draw, Line, Arrow, Rectangle, Ellipse, Text, Measurement or Sticker, or add a blur to hide something. Use Undo and Redo as you go, then tap Save annotations. The original photo is kept unchanged.
The buttons along the bottom are Job, Comments, Share and Delete. Comments are available once the photo has uploaded.
See photos on the web
Uploaded photos appear in your web dashboard under their job. Open Documents, open the job and click Media gallery.
Frequently asked questions
Can I delete a photo?
Yes. Open the photo and tap Delete. Once it has uploaded, deleting removes it for everyone, along with its annotations, comments and any customer share links. This cannot be undone. A photo that has not uploaded yet is only removed from your phone.
What if my phone is low on storage?
The camera shows "Low storage. Captures may fail until you free space." Free up space on your phone before you keep shooting.
Can I move a photo to a different job?
Yes. Open the photo, tap Job, then tap the change button (two arrows) on the job card and pick the right job. If the photo has no job yet, tap Attach to a job.
